Position Summary

The Senior Project Manager will oversee the management of small to medium-sized oil and gas projects, operating independently or in a leadership role. This position involves coordinating engineering functions and supervising all technical components of assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer for designated projects or feasibility assessments.
  • Oversee the development of studies for small to medium-sized initiatives.
  • Maintain direct communication with clients and define project scopes based on their requirements.
  • Assign tasks to the project team, ensuring effective distribution across various disciplines within and outside the organization.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to initiate complex engineering tasks, including necessary calculations.
  • Develop the Project Charter, Project Design Basis Memorandum, execution plans, budgets, and schedules for assigned projects.
  • Create essential design documents required by engineering and equipment teams for detailed engineering processes.
  • Prepare and manage engineering control documents derived from the master project schedule.
  • Draft engineering specifications for the project, collaborating with other project and design engineers.
  • Review, verify, and approve detailed engineering drawings and deliverables.
  • Ensure engineering quality control aligns with company and client standards.
  • Provide timely project updates, including scheduling, cost control, and progress reports.
  • Maintain client relationships for assigned projects, including field interface during construction as necessary.
  • Manage external supply of materials and services.
  • Conduct general project management to meet budgetary, scheduling, safety, and quality objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of company policies and engineering standards.
  • Assist in workforce planning by evaluating work commitments and project distribution.
  • Implement necessary actions to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects.

Supervision and Decision Making

  • Work is assigned based on objectives and priorities, with guidance available as needed.
  • Project Managers report to their Account Manager as required.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all outputs meet quality standards in engineering competence, safety, specifications, and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with project teams to establish quality benchmarks.
  • Adhere to company engineering policies and procedures.

Core Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of project cost control procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of natural gas and heavy oil processing.
  • Proficient in reading and editing engineering diagrams.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and engineering software.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience in Engineering Procurement Construction Management (EPCM) is essential.
  • Knowledge of environmental engineering projects is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or Applied Science with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Registered as a P.Eng. or T.T./C.E.T. in good standing.
  • Compensation range: CAD $140,000 - $180,000 based on experience.
