The Residence Life Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and safety of students residing on campus. This position is responsible for managing the daily functions of student programming within the designated residence facilities. Regular collaboration with various departments is essential to address student needs and resolve any facility-related concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Residence Director and team members to enhance residence management and the YAA program.
  • Develop and refine policies and procedures governing residential life.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders as necessary.
  • Coordinate with different departments on matters related to the YAA and JMS programs.
  • Participate in school-wide committee meetings as required.
  • Ensure timely reporting and maintenance of all residence documentation.
  • Assist with housing operations, including check-ins and orientations.
  • Support Residence Life Managers with staff scheduling as needed.
  • Contribute to the professional development of residence staff.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.

Staff Oversight:

  • Monitor staff morale and proactively address workplace challenges.
  • Set clear expectations for staff performance, oversee training, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Supervise and mentor residence staff, fostering opportunities for professional growth.
  • Work alongside the Residence Director to manage disciplinary matters.
  • Ensure uniformity in program delivery and policy enforcement across residences.
  • Remain adaptable to address recurring issues within the residence environment.
  • Assist with annual performance evaluations in accordance with established processes.
  • Promote a professional and collaborative atmosphere among residence staff.

Student Conduct Management:

  • Monitor and address student behavioral concerns effectively.
  • Collaborate with Campus Security to investigate incidents and compile necessary reports.
  • Review documentation related to residence incidents and communicate findings to the Residence Director.
  • Utilize available support networks to assist students effectively.

Residence Programming:

  • Establish a reward and discipline framework to assess student engagement and cooperation in residence life.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure high standards of maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Oversee academic support initiatives, including study periods and tutoring for residents.
  • Provide guidance to students on disciplinary matters using a progressive discipline approach.
  • Document and address social, emotional, physical, academic, and health-related issues through the Student Tracker system.
  • Facilitate interventions and uphold community standards within the residence.
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote student welfare.
  • Accompany students on trips as necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience working with youth in diverse environments is advantageous.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and assessment capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in people management and decision-making.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdepartmental team.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including databases and office software.

Work Requirements:

  • Availability for flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to work across various residences to ensure comprehensive student care.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Ability to lift weights exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of stairs is required.
