Job Title: Student Services Counsellor

Aitchison College of Technology & Health Sciences Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Student Services Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our student support services, you will play a vital role in providing guidance and support to students, helping them navigate academic and personal challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise teaching assistants and provide guidance on academic and personal matters
  • Counsel students on educational, career, and vocational issues, as well as personal and social concerns
  • Consult with teachers, parents, administrators, and community agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students
  • Coordinate the provision of counselling and information services to students, parents, and teachers
  • Administer and interpret standardized intelligence, aptitude, and interest tests
  • Refer students to specialized services when required and participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, and workshops
  • Develop guidance and counselling programs, arrange for recruitment of graduating students, and supervise peer counselling programs
  • Visit colleges and secondary schools to provide academic information and prepare presentations for conferences, workshops, and symposia
Requirements:
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field
  • Basic security clearance
  • Ability to work under pressure, with attention to detail, and a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, and initiative
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees, youth employment, Veterans, Indigenous people, and visible minorities
