About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineering Supervisor to lead our data platform team at Hydro Ottawa. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a scalable, reliable, and efficient data platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Data Platform Development: Oversee the development and implementation of efficient data solutions, tools, and technologies that meet business needs.
  • Data Pipeline Management: Design, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines to ensure data is processed efficiently, accurately, and reliably.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: Integrate data with AI and ML technologies to support the development and evolution of AI applications.
  • Data Standards and Frameworks: Develop and enforce data standards and frameworks to ensure consistent and reliable data solutions.
  • Data Quality and Integrity: Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the entire data lifecycle.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, and hands-on support to project teams.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to promote data-driven decision making and foster a data-centric culture.
  • Data Governance: Champion data governance practices ensuring alignment with information management and cybersecurity policies.
  • Partner Management: Manage an ecosystem of partners to support data engineering projects, maintenance, and support activities.
  • Team Development: Mentor and develop a team of data professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or Information Technology.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in data engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Technical Skills: Minimum of 5 years working with cloud-based data platforms, specifically AWS, GCP, or Oracle; minimum of 5 years working with Snowflake or equivalent data platforms; minimum of 5 years working with SQL; minimum of 3 years working with visualization tools (Tableau); and minimum of 3 years working with languages such as Python, R, and other frameworks and libraries.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking to tackle complex data challenges; knowledge of AI and ML techniques; and experience with integration technologies (Boomi, Oracle Data Integrator) considered an asset.
