The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Antidote Program Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager of the Emergency Department, Trauma Center, and Atlantic Canada Poison Center, this role will play a critical part in coordinating access to a standardized collection of antidotes in every emergency department in Nova Scotia.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Director/Manager of each emergency department and pharmacy in the NS Health Authority to provide education, support, and expertise in the adequate stocking and administration of antidotes. This includes ensuring that systems of routine replacement and recirculation of antidotes are in place, promoting a high quality of care for all patients in Nova Scotia who may present to any emergency department with a toxicological emergency.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in toxicology and experience in development of similar projects. Certification as a Specialist in Poison Information is required, and previous experience as a Poison Information Specialist is an asset. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating the Antidote website, providing written reports to the Provincial Antidote Advisory Committee, and distributing quarterly reports to each health zone highlighting utilization and updates regarding antidotes.

This is a Healthcare bargaining unit position. Preference is given to bargaining unit employees for unionized positions.
