Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled engineer to provide both on-site and centralized technical support for battery systems and engine-related initiatives. This role involves coordinating and executing vehicle evaluations at designated testing facilities and overseeing laboratory assessments of battery systems and engine components.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage logistics for component shipments to suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement effective solutions, ensuring seamless integration with other system components.
- Work alongside design and release teams to maintain uniformity in requirements, standards, and practices across various projects.
- Translate functional goals into precise technical specifications and solutions.
- Develop and assess alternative design concepts for improved functionality.
- Integrate system components effectively.
- Maintain and update Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVPR), and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses and identify areas for improvement.
- Create timelines and drive projects to ensure timely deliverables.
- Manage relationships with Tier I suppliers and oversee hardware designs to align with project schedules.
- Engage with stakeholders at all levels, including vehicle teams, validation leads, technical specialists, and leadership.
- Present action plans, including status updates and risks, to ensure project alignment.
- Monitor and investigate build issues identified during pre-production phases.
- Analyze warranty data for components post-launch.
- Conduct feasibility studies and concept designs.
- Support the resolution of design and manufacturing feasibility challenges.
- Communicate component status and issues effectively using MS-Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Develop initial Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and 2D drawings for components, incorporating GD&T.
- Coordinate with Prototype Build Engineering to acquire long lead components and manage sample requests from suppliers.
- Work with designers to resolve packaging issues and develop effective solutions.
- Ensure completion of all necessary Teamcenter tasks.
- Participate in design reviews and coordination meetings.
- Deliver program milestones on schedule.
- Provide support during build and launch phases as required.
- Track current production warranty and assist in root cause investigations.
- Lead and manage Change Management processes.
- Implement design for manufacturing processes and coordinate assembly operations with manufacturing engineering.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in battery systems and engine-related engineering roles.
- Proficient in CAD software and capable of generating 2D drawings with GD&T.
- Strong project management capabilities with a proven ability to develop and manage timelines.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and manage supplier relationships.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with DFMEA, DVPR, and FMEA methodologies.
- Proficient in MS-Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
Additional Information
* A US work visa, specifically the TN visa, is required for this role, and the candidate must be a Canadian citizen.
* This position requires working onsite for 5 days a week, 8 hours per day during normal working hours.
* Permanent and full-time position.
