Reporting directly to the VP of Legal Affairs and Risk Management, the Director of Compliance and Quality Assurance plays a vital role in ensuring the organization meets all legal, regulatory, and standard compliance obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Compliance and Quality Assurance will oversee an enterprise risk management framework and collaborate with business leaders to ensure adherence to its guidelines. This position is responsible for establishing effective processes for identifying, evaluating, strategizing, and monitoring both known and emerging risks.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Develop and maintain internal policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct audits of all business contracts to verify compliance and maintain accurate records.
  • Regularly evaluate company operations to identify compliance risks, assessing processes, practices, and documentation for potential weaknesses.
  • Lead business audits to uncover possible noncompliance issues.
  • Engage with employees to promote awareness of their compliance responsibilities regarding internal and external regulations.
  • Support information security initiatives and contribute to the SOC 2 security program.
  • Ensure that changes in regulations and legislation are effectively implemented across the organization.
  • Monitor adherence to privacy laws and regulations.
  • Assess potential errors and omissions claims, along with other types of claims.
  • Guarantee that business continuity plans and programs are operational and tested, including disaster recovery and cyber response strategies.
  • Verify that all corporate and individual licenses are current and valid.
  • Provide regular reports on the overall compliance programs within the organization.

Reporting Structure:

  • Senior Business Auditor
  • Collaborative work with QA team members across business functions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as business administration, finance, law, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in risk management or a related field, preferably within financial services or insurance.
  • Familiarity with Applied Epic is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, GDPR, HIPAA) is advantageous.
  • Professional designations such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) are beneficial.
  • Demonstrated understanding of audit standards and methodologies for risk assessment and management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to analyze complex data and identify trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with employees, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
