Character Artist

As a Character Artist at Ubisoft Montreal, you'll breathe life into our game worlds by crafting compelling characters that players can connect with.
You'll combine your artistic vision and technical expertise to sculpt the physical features that define these characters, ensuring they feel both believable and engaging.
Your role will involve:
- Sculpting high-resolution character models using industry-standard software like ZBrush and Marvelous Designer.
- Optimizing low-poly models for real-time performance while maintaining artistic fidelity.
- Creating UV maps that seamlessly integrate with the game engine's customization features.
- Baking detailed textures from high-resolution sculpts to create realistic PBR materials.
- Texturing characters in Substance Painter, bringing them to life with intricate details and surface variations.
- Integrating your 3D models into the game engine (3DS Max) and adding finishing touches using in-engine shaders.
- Collaborating closely with fellow artists and developers to ensure a cohesive and polished final product.
We're looking for someone who:
- Possesses a strong portfolio showcasing their character modeling and texturing skills, ideally within the AAA game development space.
- Has a deep understanding of real-time rendering techniques, including PBR workflows, shaders, and normal/displacement maps.
- Demonstrates proficiency in both high and low-resolution modeling, with a keen eye for detail and anatomical accuracy.
- Has experience in facial and hair development, creating believable and expressive characters.
