As an Electrical Technician, you will be crucial in the effective maintenance and repair of our onshore wind turbines. Our technicians are vital to our service operations, and you will have full backing from our expert team in your daily responsibilities.
Responsibilities of an Electrical Wind Turbine Technician
- Collaborate with your partner to conduct risk assessments, develop method statements, perform inspections, execute repairs, and uphold safety standards to ensure optimal turbine operation.
- ENERCON will offer thorough training and guidance to enable you to safely and efficiently ascend our wind turbines. Physical fitness and the ability to work at heights are essential.
- You will primarily work within your designated area, but may occasionally travel for training or to assist other locations.
- Each day presents unique challenges requiring you to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols and participate in training and workshops designed to enhance your safety.
- Work closely with your in-house technical team and service dispatch coordinator for on-site support and work scheduling.
- All necessary tools, IT equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and essential components will be provided, along with a team vehicle for site travel.
At ENERCON, we aspire for every technician to acquire the skills and competencies necessary for high effectiveness. You may also assist with mechanical tasks and will receive training to become multi-skilled.
Upon completing essential training, you will engage with 35KV (high voltage) switching.
Desired Qualifications and Attributes
- Minimum SVQ / NVQ level 3 qualification in Electrical.
- Completion of a time-served apprenticeship.
- A strong interest in Wind Energy and a commitment to Health and Safety in the role.
- Proficient in IT, including Microsoft applications.
- A proactive, motivated, and resourceful team player.
- Eagerness to learn and complete all relevant training and courses.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and deliver work to the highest standards.
- Previous experience with turbines is advantageous.
- A full, valid UK driving license.
Benefits Offered
- Starting salary of £37,000 per annum, with additional overtime and overnight allowances.
- Standard working hours are 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
- On-call duties are scheduled on a rota basis during weekends, with compensation of £75 per day and 1.5 times the basic pay for hours worked.
- Overtime is optional and uncapped, paid at 1.5 times the basic rate.
- Bank holidays are compensated at 1.5 times the rate, plus a day off in lieu.
- An overnight allowance is provided for travel away from home.
- Enjoy 33 days of annual leave (25 days leave plus 8 public holidays).
