About the Role:

The District of Saanich is seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineering technologist to join our Engineering Department as a Senior Development Engineering Technologist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical work at a semi-professional level as part of a technical team that delivers new municipal infrastructure through development construction and acts as the caretaker for existing infrastructure.
  • Set the servicing requirements and develop conceptual drawings to aid in the creation of new developments in the District of Saanich.
  • Meet with owners, developers, and consultants, while working with other municipal departments such as Parks and Planning, to guide developments from the pre-application phase to construction.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Department's Transportation, Water Resources, and Public Works Divisions to ensure that the proper infrastructure is in place to support development.
  • Participate in a team working to modernize and streamline the development review process, providing feedback as required, with the goal of accelerating the delivery of housing in Saanich.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with relevant bylaws and policies, municipal engineering specifications, and the MMCD.
  • Technical proficiency in municipal engineering.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent customer service focused communication skills.
  • Registration as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians BC (ASTTBC).
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
  • A personal vehicle available for use as and when required.
  • Conversancy with computer-based engineering applications including AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu.
