About the Role

The District of Saanich is seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Engineering Technologist to join our Engineering Department. As a key member of our technical team, you will play a crucial role in delivering new municipal infrastructure through development construction and ensuring the maintenance of existing infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Set Servicing Requirements and Develop Conceptual Drawings: Develop and implement servicing requirements for new developments in the District of Saanich, creating conceptual drawings to aid in the creation of same.
  2. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Meet with owners, developers, and consultants to guide developments from the pre-application phase to construction, working closely with other municipal departments such as Parks and Planning.
  3. Infrastructure Development and Maintenance: Work closely with the Engineering Department's Transportation, Water Resources, and Public Works Divisions to ensure that the proper infrastructure is in place to support development, and maintain existing infrastructure.
  4. Process Improvement: Be part of a team working to modernize and streamline the development review process, providing feedback as required, with the goal of accelerating the delivery of housing in Saanich.
Requirements
  1. A two-year diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  2. A minimum of 6 years of directly related experience.
  3. Registration as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians BC (ASTTBC).
  4. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
  5. A personal vehicle available for use as and when required.
  6. Conversancy with computer-based engineering applications including AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu.
What We Offer

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, flexible hours between 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (7 hours per day, 35 hours per week). This position is eligible for a modified work week offering flex days after the completion of a 12 month probationary period.
