Job Title: Cardiovascular Perfusionist

We are seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Perfusionist to join our team at Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna, BC.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work under the direct clinical supervision of the Anaesthesiologist and the Surgeon, providing technical support in the direct application of extracorporeal perfusion techniques. They will monitor physiological responses of patients undergoing open-heart surgery, ensuring effective and safe patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide perfusion services by assembling and operating extracorporeal equipment to temporarily replace the patient's circulatory and respiratory functions.
  • Conduct myocardial perfusion and protection techniques, assessing patient's physiological condition, and adjusting equipment to maintain patient vital signs within acceptable ranges.
  • Act as a perfusion resource in areas of non-cardiac services, including orthopaedic surgery, vascular surgery, trauma surgery, and critical care.
  • Maintain, calibrate, monitor, and test the integrity of perfusion equipment to ensure safe and effective functioning.
  • Participate in approved interdisciplinary research and special projects in collaboration with Supervisor (or designate) and other health care professionals.
