Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Arabic Language Teacher to join our team at the Waterloo Region District School Board. As a key member of our educational community, you will be responsible for delivering the secondary school international language curriculum in a virtual classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Delivery: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to meet the needs of students in grades 9-12, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Course Materials Development: Create and adapt curriculum content in accordance with the Ministry of Education's International Languages document, ensuring alignment with provincial standards.
  • Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Evaluate student progress, provide feedback, and discuss results with students and parents to ensure academic success.
  • Classroom Management: Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment, promoting enthusiasm for language learning and encouraging students to take ownership of their education.
  • Professional Development: Participate in staff meetings, instructor training workshops, and other professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language instruction.
  • Technology Integration: Utilize the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to deliver online lessons, engage students in communicative activities, and promote language skills development.
Requirements
  • Certification: Hold a current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (or equivalent).
  • Teaching Qualifications: Possess Intermediate and Senior teaching qualifications in the credit language.
  • Language Instruction Experience: Demonstrate evidence of instructing in the credit language, with a certification in language instruction from an accredited institution being an asset.
