Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse to join our team at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). As a Hemodialysis Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and Evaluate Patient Needs: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, identifying areas for improvement and developing personalized care plans.
  • Provide Hemodialysis Care: Administer hemodialysis treatments, monitor patients' vital signs, and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicians, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
  • Teach and Educate Patients: Provide patients and their families with education and support to promote healthy habits, disease management, and self-care.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Education: Member of the Order of Quebec Nurses (O.I.I.Q.) and DEC in Nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in different sectors of a hospital and minimum of six months experience in hemodialysis.
  • Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of Cree culture and social and health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset; excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; good resistance to stress; excellent communication and listening skills; take initiative and be autonomous; open to other's culture, ability to adapt to change and to a new environment; show interest and empathy towards others; possess a capacity for analysis and synthesis.
  • Language: Fluent in English; fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
Working Conditions
  • This position includes on-call periods.
  • The Nurse will work 6 shifts of 12-hours and 1 shift of 8-hours for each pay period.
