Job Title: Legal Counsel

Join The CSL Group Inc. as a Legal Counsel and contribute to the company's success in the marine dry bulk cargo handling and delivery services industry.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to support our Commercial and Operational pillars. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal advice and support on various matters, including customer contracts, commercial transactions, and operational legal issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Assistant General Counsel in customer contracts and commercial legal matters, including drafting and negotiating contracts, providing opinions and guidance, and structuring complex commercial transactions.
  • Assist in operational legal matters and fleet management, including drafting and negotiating contracts with suppliers, providing legal support for flag and ship registration matters, and assessing legal risk in operational transactions.
  • Support the Assistant General Counsel in legal matters relating to financings, including providing legal assistance, assessing legal risk, and supervising external counsel.
  • Be available during non-business hours to support the team as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
  • 2-5 years of legal experience in commercial and corporate law with a major law firm or corporation.
  • Law degree from a recognized law faculty at a Canadian university.
  • Member of the Barreau du Quebec or equivalent certification.
  • Strong drafting and negotiating skills, excellent team player and collaborator, and ability to work autonomously and with global teams.
  • Knowledge and experience in commercial and service contracts and corporate finance an asset.
  • Knowledge of maritime law, chartering, or maritime operations an asset.
