Job Title: Legal Counsel

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team at the Department of Justice Canada. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and representation to the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting litigation as counsel, including appearing before the Federal Courts and Quebec provincial courts
  • Providing legal services in tax matters, including experience in conducting tax litigation
  • Managing the legal practice, including using digital tools
  • Identifying legal issues and recommending solutions
  • Analyzing legal issues and providing strategic advice
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or higher in a specialized discipline or field of law relevant to the position
  • Significant and recent experience conducting litigation as counsel
  • Knowledge of recent and significant case law relevant to the position
  • Knowledge of litigation practices and procedures
  • Ability to communicate in writing
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in conducting tax litigation
  • Experience appearing before the Federal Courts
  • Experience in conducting litigation before Quebec provincial courts
  • Experience in providing legal services in tax matters
