Job Title: Early Childhood Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Early Childhood Assistant to join our team at Charlotte Birchard Centres of Early Learning. As an Early Childhood Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children in our care.

Job Summary:

The Early Childhood Assistant will work under the supervision of early childhood educators to develop and implement child-care programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. This role requires a strong commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • Maintain daycare equipment and ensure a safe and healthy environment for children
  • Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records and preparing reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  • Encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
  • Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
  • Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
  • Administer first aid in emergency situations
Requirements:
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Experience working with children with special needs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Reliability and punctuality
