Overview:

The Financial Coordinator position plays a vital role in supporting the financial operations of NAIT's Applied Research initiatives. This temporary role is essential for ensuring that all administrative practices are maintained at the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist research leaders and specialists with grant applications and research contracts, including budget assessments and submission processes.
  • Oversee all agreements related to Research Centres, both internally generated and externally sourced.
  • Manage financial transactions including requisitions, invoices, payments, journal entries, budgets, and contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with various funder guidelines by reviewing charges for eligibility.
  • Coordinate month-end activities while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Provide insights to researchers regarding cash flow, including monthly statements and projections at the grant/project level.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders and external funders, ensuring all reporting requirements are met.
  • Create detailed documentation for in-kind contributions, including necessary agreements.
  • Support leadership with planning documents, reports, and variance analyses for Industry Solutions.
  • Assist in the preparation, tracking, and reporting of NAIT budgets during the annual budget process.
  • Track and report on capital procurement for external funding sources.
  • Coordinate information for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Engage in special projects as required.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in analytical problem-solving.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a proven track record in financial management.
  • Experience in research grant facilitation and management is highly advantageous.
  • Project management and budget preparation experience are essential.
  • Advanced skills in Excel are required; familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps and PeopleSoft Finance is a plus.
  • Equivalencies may be considered.
