About the Role

The Ablation Catheter Development Team at Boston Scientific is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to support electrophysiology product development within the Cardiology division. As a key team member, you will provide mechanical engineering support in the creation and development of new electrophysiology ablation catheter technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Research, develop, design, and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, processes, and equipment.
  2. Develop solutions to diverse engineering problems of high complexity, requiring applied in-depth problem-solving competencies.
  3. Drive technical aspects of complex single-use device development, including requirements, design, implementation, test, integration, transfer to manufacturing, and verification/validation.
  4. Plan and organize project assignments of substantial variety and complexity, directing support personnel and project activities.
  5. Ensure quality system compliance for medical device development, champion continuous improvement, and adopt best practices.
  6. Participate in the development of others by facilitating training and providing feedback and guidance.
  7. Create a strong team culture around high expectations and high performance.
  8. Maintain detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development.
  9. Provide clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates.
Requirements
  1. BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Required minimum years of work experience (primarily in medical device or related field): 7+ Years with BS, 5+ Years with MS.
  3. Experience managing technical aspects of projects as a member of a cross-functional core team.
  4. Demonstrated strong cross-functional collaboration, influence without authority, and project/task management enabling highly effective teams.
  5. Experience with electrophysiology and/or Class II or Class III Medical Device product development experience.
  6. Demonstrated product development leadership and communication skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership on a large-scale development program.
  8. Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.
  9. Systems engineering mindset, able to articulate customer unmet needs and translate into holistic technical solutions.
  10. Understanding of working within a quality system, IEC and ISO standards relevant to medical device lifecycle and risk management.
