Company Overview: Brandt is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician specializing in Material Handling for our operations. This role involves independently conducting both basic and advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repair tasks on various equipment owned by customers and dealers, ensuring efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Accountability:

  • Operate within the financial frameworks established by the Service Manager.
  • Achieve high productivity levels while ensuring profitability and gross margin targets are met.
  • Maintain a quality assurance standard of 98% for first-time job completion.

Operational Procedures:

  • Document all work performed for customer and warranty purposes accurately.
  • Stay updated on product knowledge relevant to the specific equipment used in the industry.
  • Keep the workspace organized and adhere to safety protocols at all times, demonstrating a strong understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards.
  • Comply with regulations regarding the disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Follow directives from management and complete assigned tasks as directed by the Service Manager or Foreman.
  • Engage in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge, including industry-specific technologies.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in optimal condition.
  • Provide mentorship to apprentices in the department.

Diagnostic and Repair Duties:

  • Conduct both basic and complex diagnostics on power equipment to identify repair needs.
  • Diagnose and repair various systems, including disassembly and reassembly.
  • Perform inspections as required by customers, manufacturers, or regulatory bodies.
  • Execute preventative maintenance on equipment such as forklifts and electric carts.
  • Utilize tools such as drill presses and grinders to carry out maintenance and repairs.
  • Complete all necessary documentation promptly upon job completion.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
  • Proven diagnostic abilities for understanding both mechanical and electrical systems in material handling equipment.
  • Experience with hand tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment maintenance, including rigging and installation.
  • Exposure to equipment alignment techniques is advantageous.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer needs.
  • Trade certification in Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Automotive, or Truck/Transport is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • A strong commitment to delivering high-quality customer service.

Experience Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred.
  • Certification as a Journeyperson in Heavy Duty Equipment or a related trade is highly regarded.
  • Commitment to excellence in customer service is essential.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with industrial equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are crucial.
