What is the role?

We are seeking a skilled Tableau Developer who is proactive, detail-oriented, and technologically adept to join our dynamic team. This position requires a motivated individual who is ready to take initiative, deliver exceptional client support, and become a reliable collaborator within our organization.

This role involves significant interaction with both internal and external stakeholders. You should be adept at navigating challenges and devising solutions with a focus on automation where feasible, while working in tandem with your colleagues. You will be part of the Cyber Reporting team within RBC's Cyber Operations Unit, delivering Reporting Solutions that enhance RBC's infrastructure and global operations. Continuous skill development and strategic intelligence enhancement will be essential to ensure RBC's vulnerability and compliance capabilities are aligned with the evolving threat landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize Tableau development skills to convert raw data into actionable insights, assisting internal clients in visualizing their data effectively.
  • Conduct data analysis employing measurement techniques, formulating KPIs, and constructing reports and dashboards to address business inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders to comprehend business challenges and develop user stories and business requirements.
  • Transform business requirements and user stories into functional use cases to generate specialized reporting, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Create and deliver documentation, training, presentations, and support for users across various levels.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of data included in all reporting outputs.
  • Grasp business drivers, definitions, and metrics to interpret findings, take appropriate actions, and provide relevant guidance.
  • Maintain and enhance the existing suite of Tableau reports.

Qualifications Required

Essential Skills

  • 5-7 years of experience in developing BI reporting packages for internal stakeholders.
  • Over 5 years of experience in SQL development.
  • 3-4 years of experience working with Tableau Desktop and Server.
  • Proficiency in designing scorecards, KPIs, and dashboards using Tableau from diverse data sources, including large datasets such as Hive, Hadoop, and MS SQL databases.
  • Capability to build, extract, and automate dashboard runs, presenting visualizations and elucidating the significance of various reports.
  • Experience in crafting complex queries for data visualization.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced, and rapidly evolving operational environment.
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to convey information in both technical and non-technical contexts.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on improving methods and implementing best practices.
  • Problem-solving skills to analyze and prioritize tasks to meet business objectives in a secure and risk-aware manner.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with scripting and programming languages such as Python and Java.
  • Experience with big data processing tools like Spark and Hive, along with GitHub functionality and workflow exposure.
  • Knowledge of Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Public Cloud technologies.
  • Experience with big data technologies, particularly in machine learning and statistical functions.
  • Understanding of JIRA, Confluence, and agile working environments.
  • Experience with vulnerability management processes and scanning products.
  • CISSP Certification.
