About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Administrative Support Specialist for the Indigenous Education Network. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team dedicated to advancing Indigenous education and research at the University of Toronto.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Indigenous Education Network, including coordinating schedules, activities, and materials.
  • Assist with event planning and coordination, including producing and distributing invitations, coordinating RSVPs, and arranging catering.
  • Support the Indigenous Education Liaison in their duties, including attending meetings and providing administrative support as needed.
  • Foster cooperative working relationships with internal and external contacts, including faculty, staff, students, community members, and organizations.
  • Stay informed on current events and changes to policies and legislation affecting Indigenous people, and brief leadership as appropriate.
Essential Qualifications
  • College Diploma (2 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years related experience.
  • Minimum two years experience in and with Indigenous communities.
  • Experience providing front-line service in a post-secondary environment.
  • Experience in event planning and program delivery.
  • Experience providing administrative support.
  • Strong knowledge of diverse Indigenous cultures in Canada.
  • Demonstrated experience in carrying out relational and trauma-informed approaches to working with Indigenous people and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • High level of proficiency with standard office software and online applications.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability in exercising discretion with sensitive issues and confidential materials/matters.
  • Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
Assets (Nonessential)
  • Knowledge of and experience with Indigenous Community in the Greater Toronto Area.
  • Familiarity with approaches to equity, diversity, and inclusion within education spaces.
  • Experience with digital programming and website and social media communications/maintenance.
