Position: Financial Management Officer

Organization Overview:
Brandon University is dedicated to fostering educational excellence and supporting the financial health of our institution. We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Financial Management Officer.

Role Overview:
The Financial Management Officer will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, and contributing to the overall financial strategy of the university.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance;
  2. Prepare comprehensive monthly financial reports and statements for internal stakeholders;
  3. Ensure timely processing of invoices and collection of receivables;
  4. Record cash transactions and assist with bank reconciliation activities;
  5. Manage purchase orders and maintain financial documentation;
  6. Establish and maintain general ledger accounts and ensure accurate financial records;
  7. Perform administrative tasks including document preparation, meeting coordination, and travel arrangements;
  8. Organize and maintain filing systems for financial documents;
  9. Procure office supplies and manage budget allocations.

Qualifications:

  1. Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience;
  2. A minimum of three years of experience in a financial management role;
  3. Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage and QuickBooks, along with Microsoft Office Suite;
  4. Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial management;
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage financial records with accuracy and attention to detail;
  6. Excellent mathematical skills and organizational abilities;
  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information;
  8. Strong interpersonal skills and effective time management;
  9. Knowledge of Indigenous culture and community programs is an asset;
  10. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
