The Role:
We are expanding our team and seeking a Chemical Production Lead to oversee the design, development, and testing of chemical processes and equipment. This position involves managing the implementation of technologies and processes, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
You will also engage in research and development activities, collaborating closely with engineers and professionals to enhance chemical manufacturing processes. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and execute production operations through synthesis.
- Generate purchasing requests and monitor their progress.
- Collaborate with procurement to source materials for product enhancement and development.
- Conduct product synthesis.
- Maintain and optimize formulations throughout batch production, qualification, and product release certification.
- Manage process control and operation of plant/lab batch manufacturing.
- Validate processes for environmental, health, and safety compliance, proposing necessary adjustments to align with updated regulations.
- Keep detailed records of manufacturing operations.
- Plan and manage maintenance of equipment necessary for production and mixing.
- Act as a reference point for new process implementations and improvements.
- Supervise a team of formulation chemists, ensuring their competencies are recognized and developed through a structured assessment process.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a production supervisory role or similar position.
- Proficiency in using various manufacturing tools and equipment, including plant-scale reactors, filter presses, pumps, condensers, and scrubbers.
- Experience in operating laboratory equipment and tools.
- Knowledge and implementation of Quality Systems for ISO 1703.
- Familiarity with site safety regulations and responsibilities.
- Proactive problem-solving skills with fluency in both written and spoken English and French.
