We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Indigenous Social Worker to join our team at the Niagara Catholic District School Board. As a key member of our Mental Health and Well-being team, you will play a vital role in providing therapy and support services to Indigenous students in our schools.
Key Responsibilities- Therapy and Support Services: Provide individual and group therapy sessions to Indigenous students with mild to moderate mental health and addiction issues, as well as support for students experiencing grief and bereavement.
- Consultation and Collaboration: Work closely with school administrators, teachers, and other support staff to develop and implement culturally responsive strategies to support Indigenous students.
- Community Liaison: Establish and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to ensure effective responses to students and families in need.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in culturally responsive practices and Indigenous-specific mental health issues.
- Education: Master's Degree in Social Work (M.S.W.) or equivalent.
- Registration: Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
- Cultural Competence: An Indigenous background and demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous people, barriers, and culture.
- Experience: Three (3) years' experience in a community or educational setting, with a focus on delivering culturally responsive services to Indigenous students and families.
- Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Competitive Salary: $75,000 - $83,000 per annum.
