Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Management Advisor to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our Health Information Management team, you will play a critical role in providing leadership and expertise in the collection, access, and use of health information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance on the development and application of health information standards in records management, release of information, and registration.
  • Support and participate in the evaluation of adherence to health information standards.
  • Assist in the development, testing, implementation, support, maintenance, and enhancement of relevant health information systems and applications.
  • Provide training and support services for internal and external users of health information systems.
  • Facilitate organizational changes created by the implementation and ongoing use of health information systems, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized Health Information Management program.
  • Certification by the Canadian College of Health Information Management and eligibility for active membership with the Canadian Health Information Management Association.
  • One year's recent related experience in a Health Information Management department of an acute care healthcare facility or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current valid BC Driver's License.
Skills and Abilities
  • Teaching: Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Knowledge Integration: Knowledge of protection of privacy and freedom of information legislation, patient's rights to confidentiality, and legal requirements to produce records.
  • Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using oral, written, and computer communication means.
  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data from multiple sources to problem-solve and make decisions effectively.
  • Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives, and establish priorities.
  • Leadership: Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
