Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist is a key member of the Prairie Mountain Health team, responsible for providing leadership in the care of clients. This role involves assessing, planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of care related to occupational therapy.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and prioritize assigned caseload, ensuring timely and effective care.
- Apply occupational therapy knowledge and skills to provide individualized and continuous assessment and treatment for clients.
- Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to plan, implement, and progress treatment plans.
- Delegate tasks and activities to rehabilitation assistants as appropriate.
- Utilize evidence-based practice and techniques within the scope of occupational therapy.
- Communicate and consult with other healthcare professionals to implement treatment plans.
- Document care in a timely manner, adhering to PMH policy and professional guidelines.
- Attend care conferences, discharge planning, and team meetings as required.
- Liaise with external agencies to exchange information and promote health promotion and disease prevention.
- Support and promote primary health care principles.
- Complete statistical reporting as required and within established timelines.
- Collaborate with management to ensure continuity of services and optimize caseload coverage.
- Provide clinical supervision to students or provisional occupational therapists.
- Work collaboratively with management to propose, plan, and implement services and therapy programming.
Requirements
- Up-to-date knowledge of occupational therapy standards and practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
