Position Title: Part-Time Faculty - Natural Resources

Reports to: Associate Dean - School of Engineering

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspire enthusiasm and dedication in the following program areas within the School of Engineering Technology and Trades:
    • Environmental Technician
    • Forestry Technician – Ecosystem Management
  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging courses and/or laboratory sessions.
  • Facilitate student engagement in both traditional and distance learning environments, ensuring clarity on curriculum, academic progression, and assessment of learning.
  • Create a supportive learning atmosphere that utilizes available resources effectively while accommodating diverse learning styles.
  • Assess student progress and achievement through various evaluative methods.
  • Actively contribute to student success and well-being.
  • Guide, advise, and mentor students regarding course selections, career paths, and opportunities for further education.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of the School's programs.
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Qualifications

A detailed outline of responsibilities as per the classification definition of Professor is available in the Academic Collective Agreement. This role involves up to 36 weeks of assigned contact per academic year and may include weekend assignments. Candidates must possess:

  • A postsecondary qualification (degree preferred) in a relevant discipline.
  • Significant expertise and progressively responsible experience in the relevant field.
  • Proficiency in both in-person instruction and distributed learning methodologies.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Teaching or training experience at the postsecondary or corporate level.
  • Experience working with First Nations, Metis, and/or Inuit communities, particularly in the College's catchment area.
  • Experience in teaching or collaborating with international students.
  • A commitment to educational equity and the ability to teach diverse student populations.
  • Proven teamwork skills and a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Experience in curriculum and program development, including innovative teaching techniques.
  • Familiarity with alternative delivery methods, student success strategies, academic advising, adult learning theories, and educational technology.

The successful candidate will be required to submit a criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening prior to employment.
