Position Overview

Position Title: Part-Time Faculty - Natural Resources

Job Type: Part-Time

Location: Confederation College

Reports to: Associate Dean - School of Engineering

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster enthusiasm and dedication in the following program areas within the College's School of Engineering Technology and Trades:
    • Environmental Technician
    • Forestry Technician – Ecosystem Management
  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging courses and/or laboratory sessions.
  • Facilitate student engagement in both traditional and distance learning environments, ensuring awareness of curriculum, academic progression, and assessment of learning.
  • Create a supportive learning atmosphere that utilizes available resources and diverse teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles.
  • Assess student progress and achievements through a variety of evaluative methods.
  • Contribute actively to student success and provide guidance in course selection, career opportunities, and pathways for further education.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of the School's programs.
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A postsecondary qualification (degree preferred) in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise and progressively responsible experience in the applicable field.
  • Proficiency in both in-person instruction and distributed learning methods.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Teaching or training experience at the postsecondary or corporate level.
  • Experience working with First Nations, Metis, and/or Inuit communities, particularly those within the College's catchment area.
  • Experience teaching or collaborating with International students.
  • A commitment to educational equity and the ability to teach diverse student populations.
  • Proven teamwork skills and a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Experience in curriculum development and innovative teaching techniques.
  • Additional experience in alternative delivery methods, student success strategies, academic advising, and adult learning theories.

Note: A criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening will be required prior to employment.
