Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Construction Equipment Operator to join our team at Border Paving Ltd. as a Road Building Specialist. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient completion of road building projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, including asphalt screeds, pavers, and graders, to construct and maintain roads.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment, and refill tanks as needed.
  • Utilize material safety data sheets (MSDS) to ensure safe handling and use of materials.
  • Complete onboard and other logs to track equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Participate in the preparation of accident reports to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Secure special attachments to equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment to stay in touch with the crew.
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor safety conditions to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent training in heavy construction equipment operation.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, with attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle heavy loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in dusty and noisy conditions.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
Working Conditions

Our team works on road building projects in residential, commercial, and institutional settings. You will be working outdoors, in dusty and noisy conditions, and will be required to handle heavy loads up to 50 lbs.

Benefits

We offer a competitive wage of $34 to $35.75 per hour, based on skills and experience, with opportunities for salary increases as per company policy. We also offer a profit-sharing bonus program and comprehensive benefits package, including CORE Coverage (Basic Life, LTD, Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment), available after 3 months of employment.
