Job Overview:

The Privacy Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring the University's compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) by coordinating Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), providing privacy advice, and responding to access to information requests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and conduct PIAs to identify and mitigate potential privacy risks
  • Provide expert advice on FIPPA and related legislation to University staff and stakeholders
  • Respond to FOI requests and coordinate the release of sensitive information
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and guidelines related to privacy and access to information
  • Collaborate with University departments to ensure compliance with FIPPA and related legislation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., law, information technology, public administration)
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role or in a legal/regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FIPPA and related legislation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
