Payroll Coordinator

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, while adhering to all relevant regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret labor agreements and statutory legislation to ensure compliance with pay, deductions, benefits, taxes, and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive employee payroll information, ensuring its accuracy and currency.
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of payroll system parameters, including new year statutory amounts and recharge rates.
  • Contribute to the preparation and processing of full-cycle payroll, reviewing and balancing all related allocations (rates of pay, deductions, hours of work, burdens, statutory remittances, etc.).
  • Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports and filings as required.
  • Prepare employee payroll information, documents, or payments for current or terminated employees, fulfilling internal and external stakeholder requirements.
  • Collaborate with relevant resources to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee transactions (new hires, job code changes, terminations, etc.).
  • Provide support with miscellaneous invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, ledger reconciliations, and data entry tasks.
Qualifications
  • A postsecondary degree or diploma in a related field is an asset.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification is desirable or actively pursuing.
  • One year of experience in payroll or timekeeping is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of payroll processes, statutory laws, and labor agreements.
  • Knowledge and experience with job cost accounting and general ledgers.
  • Experience in preparing, reconciling, and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external remittances.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll and accounting software.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and internal operating systems.
