Lakes District Maintenance Inc. is seeking a permanent full-time experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic or tradesperson to work in a mechanical shop environment, with preference given to a Red Seal Certified or equivalent Trade Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic.
Under the direction of the Equipment and Facilities Manager, this position will perform duties and tasks related to the preventative and corrective maintenance of specialized construction equipment and other related construction equipment and vehicles.
This job entails performing skilled journeyman level mechanical work according to standards of the trade. Some travel and field work may be required, but mainly working in a mechanical shop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on specialized construction equipment and other related construction equipment and vehicles.
- Work under the direction of the Equipment and Facilities Manager to ensure all maintenance tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with other employees and periodically assist and/or direct the efforts of other employees, including apprentices.
- Utilize computer skills and experience to document equipment diagnostic systems and online researching capabilities.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a registered apprenticeship with a valid Certificate of Qualification issued by the Industrial Training Authority, or the approved equivalent, for the trade, or the training and work experience equivalent.
- CVIP Inspection License or ability to obtain a CVIP Inspection License to perform CVIs.
- Valid BC driver's license of the appropriate class required to carry out the related trade functions (Class 3 with air endorsement preferred).
- Knowledge of the highway maintenance industry an asset, but not required.
