Claims Adjuster IV, Casualty

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Adjuster IV, Casualty to join our team at AIG. As a key member of our Casualty Claims Unit, you will be responsible for handling complex commercial automobile claims, including environmental cleanup and third-party property damage.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze complex commercial auto claims to determine coverage and liability
- Prepare and communicate disclaimer and/or reservation of rights letters to underwriters, brokers, and insureds as needed
- Investigate and provide direction to adjusters on the investigation of claims
- Provide instruction to legal counsel to bring about appropriate resolution of claims
- Ensure compliance with our litigation guidelines
- Participate in mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes to resolve claims
- Negotiate settlements directly with insureds and other parties
- Issue payments in a timely manner
- Operate within our best practices guidelines, including timely reserve review, notes, payment requests, and electronic diary management
- Inform management of all complaints, large losses, coverage issues, and other relevant matters
- Minimum 7 years of experience handling complex commercial automobile claims, including umbrella and excess
- College or university degree or equivalent industry experience
- Experience in managing litigation files and ability to make decisions and give directions to counsel and/or adjusters
- Strong negotiating skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Ability to manage workload effectively and efficiently, with strong prioritization skills
- Proficient computer skills to navigate paperless claim file systems
