Materials Management Coordinator

Position Overview
The Materials Management Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the quantity and scheduling of materials necessary to fulfill the master production schedule. This role involves initiating purchase or production requisitions as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and release vendor materials to align with daily production requirements.
- Analyze customer releases to influence weekly and long-term production needs across all lines.
- Manage inventory levels using advanced control techniques, ensuring minimum and maximum stock levels are updated.
- Maintain target inventory levels for both raw and finished goods, including cycle counting and physical inventory tasks.
- Develop and uphold weekly and daily shipping schedules for customers and vendors.
- Utilize customer software systems to communicate daily operational standards.
- Address any discrepancies affecting customer ratings when necessary.
- Provide ongoing support to subcontracting suppliers to ensure adherence to schedules.
- Expedite customer and vendor requirements as needed.
- Coordinate transportation and vendor releases to ensure timely material delivery while minimizing freight costs.
- Generate performance metrics related to customer and vendor delivery.
- Conduct monthly physical inventory as directed by the Materials Manager.
- Maintain computerized inventory control systems alongside manual processes.
- Assist the customs department with information for clearing shipments, including purchased items and raw materials.
- Receive daily assignments from supervisors and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Complete necessary documentation, such as weekly inventory sheets.
- Communicate with suppliers to confirm purchase order details.
- Process invoices and accept payments from customers.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Materials Management or relevant experience.
- A minimum of two years of production planning experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with MRP and web-based customer systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of quality standards such as QS9000, TS16949, and ISO14001.
- Ability to interpret various forms, including invoices and packing slips.
- Proficient in using computer-operated machinery for printing delivery slips.
