The Genetic Counseling Support Specialist operates under the guidance of the Clinical Coordinator for Genetic Counseling and collaborates with the Practice Lead for practice-related matters. This role involves providing essential clinical support for the Hereditary Cancer Program. Key responsibilities include the preparation of both technical and non-technical documentation, maintaining comprehensive patient records, assisting the clinical team, and effectively communicating relevant information to patients and healthcare providers. All tasks are conducted in accordance with established protocols and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial reviews and prioritize specific cases
  • Gather necessary information for patient assessments
  • Prepare and organize patient charts and testing documentation
  • Draft letters for consultations and results
  • Input patient data into the electronic health record system
  • Respond to general inquiries from the public
  • Direct patients to additional services as required

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a diploma in a relevant field along with two years of applicable experience
  • Strong communication abilities
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Capability to effectively manage workload
  • Physical capacity to perform job-related tasks
