We are seeking a Senior Vice President to become a vital part of our Investment and Partnerships Team. In this capacity, you will oversee local and national media procurement. Your responsibilities will include developing, executing, and monitoring comprehensive media investment strategies and plans for clients, ensuring adherence to specifications and accuracy while supervising relevant teamwork, resource allocation, and growth initiatives.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Vice President of Investments and Partnerships is a pivotal member of a team of specialists responsible for delivering intelligent, innovative, and effective market strategies and executions that drive client performance while nurturing strategic alliances with vendor partners to unlock greater value for both clients and the agency. You will lead the identification and selection of media partners that align with the strategic and tactical objectives established by the Connections Planning and Strategy teams. You will be the primary contact for media vendor relationships, responsible for all negotiations and value creation with these partners, ensuring that each plan is executed flawlessly. Additionally, you will provide aggregated quantitative and qualitative insights for group-level reporting related to rate and program negotiations. The team is expected to remain at the forefront of industry innovation and educate broader brand/client teams on relevant opportunities, including the adoption of content and Vivendi partnership possibilities.

This role reports to the Managing Partner of Havas Media Canada.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Media Procurement, Content, and Execution

  • Accountable for the team delivering consumer-focused, fully integrated plans that meet all client objectives in collaboration with Strategy, MX Development, and Digital Performance teams.
  • Develop and own the investment negotiation strategy, ensuring compliance in team negotiations.
  • Enhance content capabilities within the agency, ensuring they are seamlessly integrated into our MX process rather than treated as an upsell.
  • Provide thought leadership on alternative buying models, the future of content marketing, and integrated projects.
  • Ensure junior team members execute campaigns with excellence from launch through post-buy analysis.
  • Lead dynamic benchmarking for vendor and tactic-specific performance and rates to optimize planning and negotiation.
  • Oversee investment and activation across relevant media channels as necessary, including direct account and client service responsibilities.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies, recommendations, and points of view.
  • Supervise the development and implementation of investment plans, incorporating necessary rationale and research for client buy-in.
  • Negotiate and implement added value inventory, research partnerships, and custom sponsorship elements.
  • Manage and take accountability for budgets and savings.

Media Vendor Partnerships & Industry Education

  • Maintain and expand key marketplace relationships, including senior-level media owner and technology platform contacts.
  • Negotiate and cultivate strategic client and agency-level partnerships to unlock additional value.
  • Oversee the creation of agency and client-centric points of view as needed.
  • Share updates on key industry trends across the team and agency, highlighting clear implications for clients.
  • Collaborate with teams to create case studies and disseminate best practice executions.
  • Manage partnership development and issue resolution between both parties.
  • Provide insights on marketplace trends and investment expertise for clients and client teams.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with appropriate client-level contacts.

Managerial/Agency Support

  • Act as an engaged leader, driving growth for the agency and team.
  • Lead by example while developing, motivating, and coaching the entire Investment & Partnership teams.
  • Communicate the agency's vision and values to assigned staff.
  • Foster a learning environment for junior staff.
  • Participate in the recruitment and development of junior staff, ensuring all direct reports master the skills and organizational savvy required for advancement.
  • Create an atmosphere of trust and accountability by providing clear tasks and objectives when delegating responsibilities to the team.
  • Manage team workload and assist in prioritization as needed.
  • Ensure the team delivers timely and accurate work products.
  • Participate in new business initiatives and provide insights on potential opportunities.
  • Oversee client relationships related to media investment and take ultimate accountability for the team's daily responsibilities.
  • Manage and lead global investment reporting requirements and cross-team relationships for North American and Global operations.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in media procurement across various client and business categories.
  • Strong quantitative skills with the ability to analyze data and inform market strategies.
  • Established marketplace relationships with senior sales personnel at major media firms.
  • Creative approach to deal terms, including pricing models and value based on client objectives.
  • Proven success in client relations and business development.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the marketing/communications process and the role of investment.
  • Strong digital background and comfort presenting to clients and internal teams.
  • Demonstrates business acumen in both digital and offline media, including site direct and specialty fields.
  • Proficient in syndicated tools for planning, buying, reporting, insights, and optimization of digital media.
  • Strong business sense, negotiation skills, and industry connections.
  • Experience in leadership and collaboration with attention to detail and budget management.
  • Self-starter with robust problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
