Role Responsibilities

Are you passionate about contributing to community safety and offender rehabilitation? Our Community Corrections Officer positions offer a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals under supervision.

We have three distinct roles available within the Community Corrections division:

(1) Community Corrections Officer in a Local Office:
Under the guidance of a Senior Community Corrections Officer and Manager, you will deliver a comprehensive array of community correctional programs and services to both adult and juvenile offenders. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with supervision orders mandated by the Courts and engaging with community partners. Through effective case management, you will assess needs, develop case plans, and implement best practices in community supervision to foster positive behavioral changes in clients.

Utilizing your strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will conduct assessments, prepare documentation, and represent the organization in court as necessary. In the field, you will conduct site visits and collaborate with local law enforcement, judicial systems, and correctional facilities. Building and maintaining constructive relationships with community support services is essential, as is promoting a positive perception of community corrections. Excellent time management and prioritization skills are crucial for managing casework effectively.

(2) Community Corrections Officer in the Mobile Supervision Unit (MSU):
Under the supervision of a Senior Community Corrections Officer and the Manager of the Mobile Supervision Unit, you will provide remote oversight to pre-trial and low-risk sentenced offenders. Your organizational and time management abilities will be vital as you utilize advanced technology to supervise a significant number of clients across the region.

Officers in the MSU will conduct assessments, prepare reports, attend court sessions, and manage all aspects of effective case management while adhering to relevant federal and provincial regulations, divisional policies, and operational guidelines to maintain correctional and rehabilitative services.

(3) Community Corrections Officer in the Central Monitoring Unit (CMU):

Under the direction of an Electronic Monitoring Supervisor and the Manager of the Central Monitoring Unit, you will oversee clients who are mandated by the Court to undergo electronic monitoring via ankle bracelets. This role requires shift work, including days, evenings, and nights, to ensure continuous operation of the Central Monitoring Unit.

The primary duties of the Community Corrections Officer in the CMU will encompass administrative and case management tasks, including onboarding and supervising clients with electronic monitoring requirements. You will manage the electronic monitoring systems, create offender profiles, administer Court-ordered conditions, and respond promptly to any instances of non-compliance. Additionally, you will monitor case files for clients in the electronic monitoring program, interpreting data and addressing issues as they arise, while referring complex cases to a Community Corrections Officer for further assistance.
