About the Role

The Global Technology Applications team at Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Analyst Specialist to join our team. As a Business Analyst Specialist, you will be responsible for working with key stakeholders and advisors to extend and integrate our existing Salesforce Platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver effective and efficient technical support to a portfolio of instances
  • Handle user requests and issues on a daily basis, provide support, and suggest workarounds to end users to carry out their business workflows
  • Articulate user needs and have a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements
  • Research and analyze business requirements and translate them into quality systems requirement specifications
  • Formulate and define systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements
  • Participate in walkthroughs of applications during various stages of the project or application lifecycle
  • Provide solutions and suggestions to the business from a holistic point of view and assist in the defining of detailed requirements
  • Actively participate in the systems implementation process and have a thorough understanding of the change management process
  • Review JIRA ticketing intake system and manage Definition of Ready and Definition of Done from Requirement management and Tracking
  • Test business requirements implementation before handing over to users for UAT cycle and support UAT cycles
  • Be competent to work at the highest technical level of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future Global Banking and Capital Markets Business environment
  • Be the point of contact for Business to approach for administrative JIRA related issues
  • Track work assignments, status, and reporting

Requirements

  • Have a clear understanding of current IT practices and systems development techniques, including system specifications and testing methodologies
  • Have some experience and understanding of the release change management process (DEV - IST/QA - UAT - PROD)
  • Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Have working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server and be able to create and run queries on their own
  • Have experience with is a requirement
  • Have experience with ticket tracking applications such as JIRA or HPQC
  • Have a university or college degree in a related discipline (Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Technology) or equivalent work experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Have certification as an administrator or developer
  • Have experience with but not limited to PL/SQL, UNIX, JAVA, XML, HTML, and/or Visual Basic
  • Have technical and troubleshooting experience from working at a service desk
  • Have knowledge and experience with release change management tools
