Equipment Operator 3 Vac Truck Opportunity

Temporary, Full-Time Position

The District of West Vancouver Utilities Operation Department is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator III to operate and maintain heavy mobile equipment, including vacuum trucks, in accordance with safety practices and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain vacuum trucks, backhoes, excavators, and skid steers in various tasks, including maintenance and construction of water, sewer, and drainage assets.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and submit reports.
  • Provide manual labor assistance on various tasks as required.
  • Ongoing mentoring and training.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Considerable experience in operating various equipment in general utilities construction and maintenance work.
  • Ability to operate equipment in congested conditions.
  • Knowledge and experience digging around other underground utilities like gas and electrical.
  • Knowledge of safe operation procedures and precautions necessary to avoid accidents or machine damage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Mechanical aptitude and adequate physical stamina to perform assigned duties in all types of weather.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of related experience in the operation of Flusher/Vacuum Truck, backhoes, excavators, and skid steers.
  • Valid class 1 or 3 Drivers' License with air brake endorsement.
  • Experience with emergency operations/snow removal.

Working Conditions:

40 hours per week, with hours and days of work may vary.

$37.39 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits.
