Overview
At Southlake Regional Health Centre, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive array of healthcare services to the communities we serve. Our advanced regional programs encompass specialized care, including Cancer and Cardiac services, reaching a diverse population across the northern Greater Toronto Area and into surrounding regions.
Position Summary
The Central Communications Specialist plays a crucial role in managing all inquiries related to the location of healthcare professionals, staff, and patients. This position involves direct interaction at the Information desk and through telephone communications. The Central Communications department is also responsible for promptly initiating responses to all Emergency Codes and situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively dispatch and coordinate Environmental Services and Transport Services staff in line with established standards of practice.
- Manage the sign-out process for keys and badges for staff, as well as assist in the booking of meeting spaces.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Professional and courteous telephone etiquette.
- Familiarity with hospital information systems.
- Knowledge of Environmental Services, Transport, and Linen departments is advantageous.
- Understanding of confidentiality and applicable laws related to healthcare.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient problem assessment capabilities.
- Commitment to customer service and teamwork.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities.
- Dedication to providing exceptional experiences for patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Qualifications
- Minimum of Grade 12 education.
- Completion of a Community College program in 911 and Emergency Services Communications is preferred.
- At least one year of relevant experience in a Call Centre environment.
- Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
- Familiarity with console and paging systems is beneficial.
- Regular attendance and the ability to work shifts, including weekends and nights, are essential for this role.
