The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team in providing clinical assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of prevention and early intervention programming for adolescents at-risk for or who have mild substance use and/or mental health problems.
This is a permanent full-time position, 75 hours bi-weekly, with occasional evening and weekend shifts required. Travel to various sites is also necessary.
The successful candidate will be bi-lingual in both English and French and have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work. They will also have two years' experience working with adolescents at-risk, community resources, harm reduction, and substance use.
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of health promotion/population health framework, harm reduction, community development, strengths-based methods, readiness to change model, and best practices related to screening, brief/early intervention, outreach, and community linkages for youth at-risk for substance use and/or mental health problems.
They will also have demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based health promotion programs and initiatives for youth at-risk for substance use and/or mental health problems, as well as awareness of community resources and programs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a wide range of services in schools and communities, including screening, assessment, supportive counseling, referral, case navigation/management, early/brief intervention, outreach, and group programming.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Social Work
- Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work
- Two years' experience working with adolescents at-risk, community resources, harm reduction, and substance use
- Bi-lingual in both English and French
The Nova Scotia Health Authority offers a competitive salary of $42.89 hourly, as well as a benefits package including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
