Reporting to the Zone Medical Executive Director and collaborating with an Administrative Co-Lead, the Chief Hospitalist Officer is responsible for strategic and operational planning, as well as providing leadership in service delivery alongside relevant administrative department leaders.

This role encompasses authority and accountability for the clinical care of patients within the hospitalist department, which includes the scheduling of medical staff and ensuring adequate clinical coverage.

The Chief Hospitalist Officer will:
# Oversee the administrative operations of the department, including conducting regular departmental meetings and supplying the Zone Medical Executive Director with meeting documentation.
# Collaborate with Hospitalist Site Leads, Medical Site Leads, and operational leadership to guarantee service continuity and achieve essential patient flow objectives.
# Actively participate in the Zone Medical Advisory Committee (ZMAC) to:
# Provide insights on the quality of care and treatment delivered to patients.
# Develop, report on, and supervise the department's objectives, planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and utilization.
# Organize and execute clinical and academic initiatives of the department, ensuring alignment with NSHA priorities.
# Attend meetings of the Access and Flow Network Council and contribute to the formulation of strategies, policies, and procedures.
# Ensure the maintenance and enforcement of professional standards while implementing quality assurance and improvement measures.
# Address and resolve issues concerning medical staff and oversee the management of complaints and disciplinary actions.
# Attend relevant committee meetings as designated by the Medical Executive Director.
# Provide co-leadership with the Zone administrative director for strategic planning and budgeting processes.
# Monitor the performance and effectiveness of medical staff members and take action on identified concerns.
# Review the performance of department members and provide performance management.
# Coordinate the education of medical students and residents within the Zone, supervising their educational requirements.
# Engage in clinical services planning for the Zone/NSHA.
# Collaborate with ZMED and Medical Site Leads to lead recruitment and retention efforts for the department.
# Possess 3-5 years of experience as a medical department member with a focus on engaging, mentoring, and empowering teams.
