Job Summary

The Operations Training Simulator Trainer is a key member of the Woodfibre Management Ltd. team, responsible for delivering high-quality training and competence assurance activities to ensure the safe and successful start-up of the LNG plant. This role requires a strong background in operations, training, and competency assurance, with a focus on delivering exceptional results in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for LNG facility operations personnel, including on-the-job training, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Design and implement competency assurance systems to ensure that operations personnel have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to identify areas for improvement and develop training scenarios to support potential DCS logic changes.
  • Manage the Operations Training Simulator technical support contract and interface with the support contractor for troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
  • Work with the Information Technology department to ensure the simulator continues to operate robustly on Woodfibre's IT systems.
  • Develop and maintain training manuals, guides, and other documentation to support training programs.
  • Conduct regular training sessions at the Training Simulator to ensure that operations personnel are competent in DCS panel operations.
  • Undertake classroom training for operations personnel as needed.
  • Work with the LNG Operations Team to ensure that all training programs are aligned with company HSE policies and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Canadian Power Engineering or international equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in operations in oil and gas production facilities, including DCS panel experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in operations as a previous Operations Training Simulator trainer.
  • Previous experience in providing training, coaching, and conducting assessments for operations personnel.
  • Experience in doing operations competency assessments.
  • Working knowledge required of IT systems troubleshooting.
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining a competency management system.

  • Experience or expertise with UniSim simulation software and eLearning authoring software such as Articulate Storyline, Rise etc. would be an advantage.
