We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team at Fraser Health Authority. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to patients in an emergency setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients and collect information from various sources using observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment skills.
- Collaborate with patients and their families/caregivers to develop care plans and encourage family participation in care planning.
- Establish a therapeutic relationship by demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect, advocating for patient rights, and ensuring patient choice and autonomy in decision-making and care planning.
- Participate in care and discharge planning for patients on admission, ensuring effective care plan implementation, updating care plans as needed, and collaborating with the interprofessional care team.
- Coordinate nursing care for patients, set priorities, assign and delegate tasks to support staff, and make referrals to the interprofessional care team according to established protocols and practice standards.
- Collaborate with members of the interprofessional care team to identify and resolve issues, adjust care plans as required, and address changes in patient condition.
- Teach patients and families/caregivers about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance to support patient health care goals.
- Assess learning needs of patients and families/caregivers, provide information and demonstration of care activities to support self-care and discharge planning.
- Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of applicable post-graduate coursework in emergency nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in emergency nursing.
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment, provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team.
- Ability to promote person-centered care, demonstrate empathy, and advocate for patient rights.
- Ability to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem-solve effectively.
- Ability to teach and instruct patients and families/caregivers about topics essential to their health care and well-being.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work, collaborate with the interprofessional care team, and use factual information to support nursing decisions and actions.
