Job Summary:

The Director of Student Financial Aid is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial aid department at Innivec. This role involves strategic planning, regulatory compliance, team leadership, and direct oversight of financial aid programs to ensure students receive appropriate financial assistance and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement strategic goals for the financial aid office, aligning with the institution's overall objectives.
  2. Supervise and mentor the financial aid staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations and professional development.
  3. Offer comprehensive counseling to both prospective and current students regarding financial aid options, assist students in completing financial aid applications, and submit supporting documents accurately.
Policy and Compliance:
  1. Oversee the development, implementation, and periodic review of financial aid policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  2. Monitor changes in financial aid legislation and regulations, and ensure that institutional policies and practices are updated accordingly.
  3. Ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations governing financial aid programs.
Financial Aid Administration:
  1. Manage the administration of all financial aid programs, including grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study programs.
  2. Oversee the processing of financial aid applications, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement of funds.
  3. Develop and maintain financial aid budgets, including allocation of funds and monitoring of expenditures.
Financial Planning:
  1. Develop personalized financial plans tailored to each student's needs and circumstances.
  2. Conduct thorough assessments to determine students' financial resources and budgeting requirements.
  3. Provide guidance on managing educational expenses effectively, including tuition, fees, and living expenses.
  4. Offer advice and resources on financial literacy topics to help students make informed decisions.
Student Support:
  1. Address complex student inquiries and resolve financial aid-related issues or disputes.
  2. Provide guidance and support to students and families throughout the financial aid application process, including counseling on financial aid options and strategies.
Outreach and Education:
  1. Design and conduct workshops, seminars, and informational sessions to educate students and families about financial aid opportunities, application procedures, and financial literacy.
  2. Collaborate with other departments, such as admissions and student services, to enhance the overall student experience.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
  1. Utilize data to analyze financial aid trends, assess program effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions.
  2. Prepare reports and presentations for institutional leadership and external agencies, detailing financial aid statistics, trends, and outcomes.
Strategic Planning:
  1. Develop and execute strategies to enhance the financial aid office's services, streamline operations, and improve student access to financial resources.
  2. Work with institutional leadership to set long-term financial aid goals and initiatives.
Qualifications:
  1. Master's degree in finance, education, business administration, or a related field preferred. Bachelor's degree with substantial relevant experience will be considered.
  2. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial aid administration, with at least 3 years in a managerial or director-level role.
  3. Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations and compliance requirements.
  4. Strong leadership and management abilities, with a proven track record of effective team supervision and development.
  5. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support students, staff, and external partners.
  7. Commitment to student success and financial equity.
  8. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  9. Strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in financial aid services.

Salary: CAD 65-75k per annum
