Building Maintenance Specialist

ArcelorMittal Mines et Infrastructure is seeking skilled Building Maintenance Technicians (Plumbing) for the upcoming summer season. The selected candidate will be tasked with the installation, repair, and upkeep of plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, and other essential plumbing components utilized for water distribution and wastewater management within our community facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret plans, schematics, and technical documents to ascertain the configuration of plumbing systems, including water supply and sewage disposal;
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures and systems across residential, commercial, and industrial properties;
  • Identify and designate locations for pipe fittings, openings for pipe passage through walls and floors, and necessary accessories;
  • Create appropriate openings in structures for plumbing installations;
  • Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using both manual and mechanical tools;
  • Connect pipes using fittings, clamps, screws, bolts, or welding techniques;
  • Inspect pipes for leaks utilizing pressure testing equipment;
  • Prepare cost estimates as necessary;
  • Carry out additional related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a Vocational Diploma (DEP) in Plumbing or Heating;
  • Hold a qualification certificate as a pipefitter, plumber, or heating mechanic issued by Emploi-Québec OR a journeyman plumbing or heating certificate from the Commission de la construction du Québec (preferred);
  • Relevant experience in a similar role;
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on the current collective agreement, starting at $46.20/hour, with potential enhancements through various benefits such as:

  • Pension plan;
  • Reimbursement for transportation costs, if applicable.

Note: This position requires the candidate to be present in the designated city for the duration of the contract.

Seasonal Nature: This role is seasonal, commencing no earlier than June 1 and concluding no later than October 15, necessitating residence in the specified location throughout the season. Affordable accommodation will be provided in one of our facilities.
