Job SummaryWe are seeking a Remedial Instructor to join our team. As a Remedial Instructor, you will work with students to help bridge foundational skills gaps and develop lesson plans based on assessments. You will also work with a Case Manager to set goals and objectives for each student.
Responsibilities- Deliver one-to-one instruction to help students bridge foundational skills gaps
- Administer assessments to identify gaps in student learning
- Develop lesson plans based on assessments and work with evidenced-based curricula
- Set goals and objectives for each student with the support of a Case Manager
- Write progress reports for students and provide brief session summaries to parents/families
- Be punctual to all student sessions and attend instructor in-services and workshops throughout the year
- Contribute to our team learning and be an advocate for learning differences and our work in the community
- Bachelor degree in education or a related field with educational experience
- Experience working with children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
- Ability to use assessment strategies and instruments to identify gaps in learning
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Experience teaching in two or more of the following areas: reading, writing, and/or mathematics
- An understanding of the BC curriculum
- An understanding of structured literacy (for literacy instructors)
- Orton-Gillingham training or other structured literacy experience
- Experience working with adult learners
- Experience managing complex behavioural profiles
