Position Overview:

The Governing Council of The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated Building Operator to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our facilities. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe and clean environment for all occupants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize industrial vacuum cleaners for debris removal
  • Manage waste disposal by emptying trash receptacles
  • Maintain cleanliness of windows, walls, and ceilings
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs to building systems
  • Coordinate with tradespeople for significant repairs
  • Handle minor appliance maintenance
  • Conduct regular safety and security inspections
  • Assist in moving heavy furniture and equipment
  • Execute maintenance tasks such as painting and drywall work
  • Work autonomously with minimal oversight
  • Clear snow and ice from pathways and parking lots
Certifications and Equipment:
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Experience with industrial vacuum cleaners and power sweepers
  • Familiarity with power tools
  • Ability to operate a snowblower
Security and Safety Requirements:
  • Criminal background check
  • Verification of driver's license validity
Transportation Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work under pressure
