Job Title: Supervisor Health Information Services

Victoria General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor to lead our Health Information Services team.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and directing the Health Information Services staff, ensuring that patients are registered accurately and efficiently. The incumbent will also represent the hospital on various committees and working groups, focusing on registration and communication services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct Health Information Services staff to ensure accurate and efficient patient registration.
  • Represent the hospital on committees and working groups related to registration and communication services.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, such as the Personal Health Information Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize workflow and improve patient registration processes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and data exchange.
Requirements
  • Two years of direct experience in patient registration.
  • Demonstrated experience with automated admission/discharge/transfer (ADT) applications and software messaging standards.
  • Experience with telephone communication equipment and interpretation of relevant legislation.
  • Graduate of a recognized training program for Health Information Management Professionals or Business Administration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively schedule, supervise, direct, motivate, and evaluate staff.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions within scope of practice and role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
